Family Resource Center is hosting free ONLINE and IN-PERSON Teen Health programs for youth in grades 5-7 (ages 10-12) and grades 8-12 (ages 13-19) in any of the following Nevada counties: Elko, Humboldt, Lander, Pershing, Eureka, and White Pine. Presented using Zoom, a free application for online meetings, once a day for four days,

April Schedule
Grades 8-12
IN PERSON Tuesday, April 6th from 9:00am-4:00pm with Lunch and Snacks provided!
ONLINE Monday, April 12th – Thursday, April 15th from 4:00-5:45pm each day.

Grades 5-7
IN PERSON Wednesday, April 7th from 9:00am-4:00pm with Lunch and Snacks provided!
ONLINE Monday, April 19th – Thursday, April 22nd from 4:00-5:45pm each day.

Youth who complete all four sessions of the program will receive their choice of a FREE incentive, either a backpack filled with school supplies OR a $25 store gift card to JCPenney’s. **One free incentive allowed per child per year. (October 2020-September 2021).**

For in person classes, we will be observing the following safety precautions:
• Limit 10 students per class.
• 6 feet distance maintained.
• Each student will be seated at their own table.
• Frequent sanitizing and disinfection of work areas and class materials.
• Educator will be masked. Masks are encouraged for students and can be provided if the student does not have their own.
• Hand sanitizer provided.
• Verbal questionnaire on COVID-19 risk and temperature check prior to class.

For online classes, participants will need access to a computer, tablet, or smart phone as well as headphones and as private of a workspace as possible. Class will be live via Zoom. Class materials will be available digitally through Google Classroom. Both are free and will be accessed by a link in email. Class materials can also be delivered via contact-less delivery to those in the Elko/Spring Creek area for those without access to a printer. Backpacks/gift cards can be dropped off/picked up upon completion.

“Promoting Health Among Teens” and “Making Proud Choices are lively, evidence-based, age appropriate programs, proven effective in reducing the risk of sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS, and teen pregnancy. This program incorporates medically accurate information along with crucial knowledge on how to identify and handle social pressures. Youth learn about adolescence, hygiene, responsibility, avoiding risky behaviors, and build knowledge and confidence.
