Carlin Celebrates Railroad History


Union Pacific steam engine Big Boy No. 4014 will be stopping in Carlin for a brief celebration on July 8, 2024, from 10:00 – 10:30 am. The steam engine is the largest in the world. It was built in 1941 to support the national war effort. Carlin will be hosting a fun celebration in recognition of this amazing piece of machinery. The Railroad will make a presentation to the City of Carlin, and a short speech will be made by City representatives. There will be music, food and souvenirs. The festivities will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the Carlin City Park area. Come and join the fun to welcome this remarkable piece of history to the City of Carlin.
