
2013 Subaru Impreza WRX STI for Parts/Repair
The Bad: The vehicle has repeatedly thrown a P2138 code (Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch D/E Voltage Correlation), illuminating the Service Engine light and rendering the accelerator pedal nonresponsive. Clearing the code resets the ECM after which the vehicle performs normally until the code is triggered again (sometimes within a day or two, and other times not for a week or longer). The throttle body and accelerator pedal assembly have been replaced, and the main wiring harness plugs and specific pins that plug into the ECM have been replaced, but the problem persists. The vehicle is being offered for sale at a substantial discount as a Parts/Repair car due to the recurring issue.
Book Values: Kelly Blue Book (Fair) = $16,470, JD Power (Low Trade) = $14,825, Edmunds (Rough) = $13,062. Numerous performance upgrades have been installed that are not reflected in these book values. The price schedule below reflects the value of the vehicle as a parts car for a high-performance build, or as a repair car needing additional work to resolve the throttle D/E Voltage Correlation issue.
Rebuilt title: The car hit a light pole in May 2018, resulting in deployment of airbags and damage to the front and both sides. A rebuilt title was issued in April 2019 and the vehicle passed a Utah safety inspection. It passed a second Utah safety inspection in Feb. 2021. No issues affecting drivability related to the rebuild are reported by the current owner.
