Carson City, NV — Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak has signed emergency directive 017 temporarily providing economic relief to Nevadans by freezing some garnishment actions, as well as executions of judgments against bank accounts, including Nevadans receiving funds from the CARES Act.

“During this period of economic uncertainty and hardship, this is not the time to create additional financial stress on Nevadans who are struggling to make ends meet,” Gov. Sisolak said. “This measure ensures that federal stimulus money intended to help Nevada’s families and individuals actually stays in their pockets.”

Directive 017 does not, however, apply to judgments for child support, spousal support such as alimony, or restitution for victims of crimes.

This directive is in alignment with several other partners in the Western States Pact, including Oregon, Washington, and California.
