IRS Scam Calls

This isn't happening on our site but it is a real scam: Automated calls are going out to our users saying things like "the IRS is filing a lawsuit" and "final notice before you are sued". They urge the recipient to call their (712) number to address the issue. This is a scam. The real IRS will NOT: - Call you to demand immediate payment. The IRS will not call you if you owe taxes without first sending you a bill in the mail. - Demand tax payment and not allow you to question or appeal the amount you owe. - Require that you pay your taxes a certain way. For example, demand that you pay with a prepaid debit card. - Threaten you with a lawsuit. See more detail from the IRS website: https://www.irs.gov/uac/scam-calls-and-emails-using-irs-as-bait-persist. This is bait to get you to call the scammers so you will give them your personal information. Instead, contact the IRS if you there is some chance you may owe taxes and clarify: 800-829-1040 Stay safe out there! -Lisa
